Everyone Is Doing It

The Pope learned how to tweet this summer. His first message was pretty utilitarian letting people know about the Vatican’s web site.

Dear Friends, I just launched our site. Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings, Benedictus XVI

Here is the pontiff surrounded by his tech support team in a photo featured in Time. (Gotta admit those fuchsia accessories really make a photo pop.)

Writer Paul Rudnick couldn’t resist imagining a few more Pope tweets once the Man got comfortable and had an extra minute or two.

Sometimes, when I’m all alone, I like to put on my cassock and spin around really fast and pretend I’m a tepee.

I met the Dalai Lama and he was so nice, but all I could think was, Sandals? In January? Really?

It’s hard to tell all the cardinals apart, so sometimes I put different dinosaur stickers on their backs.

If people ask, “Why does God allow war and evil?,” I ask, “Why do the high-school students on ‘Glee’ look forty?”
